Opinion: Arbitrum is the first to enter the Layer3 era, Orbit's innovations and hidden dangers
Just when Polygon and BNB Chain rushed to roll L2, Arbitrum staggered and brought everyone into the layer3 era.
Offchain Labs released Arbitum Orbit in a low-key manner, allowing developers to customize and develop exclusive L3 chains based on the Arbitrum Nitro Stack.
Is Arbitrum's move premature? How is this different from the Optimism Stack? What impact will it have on the ecology? I wish everyone a healthy Dragon Boat Festival and discuss it.
Arbitum orbit is a scalability solution based on Arbitum Rollup as the settlement layer. Developers can build exclusive application chains based on the existing Arbitum L2 chains (One, Nova, and Goerli), which can be highly autonomous in terms of consensus mechanism, governance model, gas fee coin selection, and economic model. It can be used as a specific application chain or as an open ecological chain. It is highly customized and gives developers more flexibility and autonomy.
After research, there is always a feeling that the underlying infra innovation is too fast, and the upper-level application ecology cannot keep up. OP Stack adopts a modular architecture and is highly open source, allowing the three-party L1 chain Copy to quickly enter L2. Anyway, in the end, it is in the ecological category of optimism Superchain; Arbitum Stack allows developers to expand customization based on its L1 and L2 security foundation exclusive application chain. In essence, they are all trying to seize the ecological strategic advantage.
The competition between chains boils down to grabbing developer resources. This goal is most effectively facilitated through open solutions and standardized tools. OP Stack urges L1 to L2 to be more gradual and Reasonable, but Arbitum Orbit personally thinks it is too advanced:
Allow developers to design their own Gas fee token mechanism, giving some "short, flat and fast" projects a rationality for issuing tokens;
It destroys the natural advantages of combination among large ecological applications.
On the whole, Arbitrum Orbit is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, some top applications in the game and social fields have the possibility to go straight to the sky. On the other hand, because technological innovation is ahead of application development, some short-term disturbances are inevitable. in the hands of the victim. In contrast, I prefer Uniswap's iterative development pattern driven step by step by the market and applications. When technology is divorced from actual market demand, a kind of original sin will also arise.
