Powell: Trump's tariffs will drive up summer goods inflation, some electronic product prices have already risen.

On June 19, Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell stated at a press conference that Federal Reserve policymakers expect inflation in commodity prices to rise in the summer as the impact of Trump's tariffs affects American consumers. He pointed out that the effects of tariffs on the commodity distribution chain take time, and many products currently sold by retailers were imported months before the tariffs took effect. Powell said, "So we are starting to see some effects, and we expect to see more of these effects in the coming months. We are indeed seeing price increases in certain related categories of goods, such as personal computers and audiovisual equipment, which can be attributed to the tariff hikes."
